Valuable Support Networks for Care Partners

There may be times as a care partner that you find yourself questioning whether or not this is right for you.

At NxStage, we understand. We know there will be ups and downs along the way because of the responsibilities you’ve taken on. We hope that by providing you with the right support resources and tools, you can continue to perform as a successful team with your friend or loved one.

Build a Support Network

Building a support network is one of the best ways to manage stress and uncertainty. This network should be a place where you can discuss feelings, concerns, fears, and other topics.

Whether you choose to develop your own support network–such as a group of friends, family, a therapist or other care partners–or you join an organised group put together by a faith organization, your employer, or a mental health professional, we urge you to find a situation that feels right for you. You deserve a safe place to share what you are going through.

A support network doesn’t have to be a place where you only talk about stressful situations. It can be a group of old friends that get together on a regular basis to relax and have fun. Going bowling, taking a trip to the beach, dining out, or watching a movie with friends may be the exact kind of support you need when feeling stressed.

Support Groups Online

In a mobile and virtually connected world, there are many internet forums and support groups that can provide you support and an outlet for your stress. Try researching some options on your own or talk with your care team for ideas. Calling your local hospital information desk may be another good place to start.
